Client Journey
Initial design consultation
Every client’s journey begins with an initial design consultation. This is the most important step as it not only allows me to view your space, discuss your requirements, budget, time frame and vision for your home but allows you to meet me and see if I am the right fit for you and your project. During this time, I will provide professional advice and recommendations while gaining a clear understanding of your requirements so that a comprehensive Design Proposal and Agreement can be prepared. The Proposal outlines the scope of work, the associated phases and fees to deliver your project.
However not all projects may need the full design process and maybe the consultation is all you may need to set you on your way. That’s why I never take a “cookie cutter” approach to my work as every job is different and unique.
Concept design
Now it is time to have fun. During the concept design phase I will research and design preliminary concept drawings for your project. The proposed concepts will encapsulate the requirements set out in the Design Proposal and includes mood boards, spatial planning, floorplans and initial finishes and fixtures. I will explain my thinking behind the design and present my concept and recommendations. This stage may also require working with your Architect or draftsperson to discuss any drawings required for building and engineering approval.
Design development & documentation
This phase begins when the concept design has been approved as a clear vision, layout and understanding of the design had been established.
During this phase detailed drawings, finishes, fittings and fixtures schedules are prepared. These documents form a crucial part of your building documentation as they enable accurate quoting based on selected items instead of estimated allowances.
I will work with you to select, document and provide written specifications for all hard surfaces and finishes including flooring, cabinetry, bathroom fittings, paint or wallpaper, feature lights and hardware. Basically, everything will be selected and approved before any construction work begins.
You will receive full documentation design for joiners and builders to work from (floor plan and elevations for each area) and a schedule detailing exactly what fixtures, finishes and fittings have been sourced and where they go.
This documentation basically allows the builder/contractor/joiners to confidently quote and work without having to contact you for every decision such as heights for benchtops, taps, towel rails, shower recesses, shower screen types, and the list goes on.
Detailed working drawings also avoid any onsite confusion when it comes to the building stage as all contractors have a clear plan of what is required.
During this phase I can assist you in tendering the project and/or engaging a builder and/or trades to complete the works.
Construction
During the construction phase I will ensure that you project is being delivered to the approved design specifications. I will perform project site visits to monitor design intent and progress and to assist with resolving issues as they arise. During this phase the co-ordination and purchase of items such as fixtures, fittings, finishes, lighting and flooring are also taken care of. Rest assured Rebecca Nuss Interiors will be with you every step of your journey.
